ISO 9001

The international standard for quality management systems: it defines how an organization keeps its processes under control to produce repeatable results and improve them over time.

What it is

ISO 9001 sets out the requirements of a quality management system. It asks you to write down how you work, measure results against stated objectives, and act when something goes wrong. It applies to how the organization operates, not to any single product.

What it means for you

How we run a project doesn't depend on who happens to be running it. Requirements gathering, estimates, sprint progress, code review, change management and release to production all follow defined procedures with explicit roles and responsibilities. If something goes wrong, there is a path to detect it, correct it and stop it recurring.

How we maintain it

We measure project progress against agreed objectives, collect client feedback, log non-conformities and their corrective actions, and review internal procedures periodically. Recurring audits check that the system is genuinely applied, not merely written down.

It is about the organization and its processes. The effect on the software is indirect but real: structured requirements gathering, systematic code review and tracked change management reduce the defects that reach production.
